This is our most popular Project Teaching Pack and it has been totally rewritten and enlarged for the second edition.
This process of Batik is an alternative to the traditional method of using wax, which
is often avoided by teachers for safety reasons. This African Batik method has been
developed by us over the years and does not use any expensive equipment and typically
costs approximately £2 per child for materials. It can be safely used for Key Stage
1 and older children, and produces fantastic results with endless possibilities -

It takes you through the simple stages of the method with detailed instructions and full colour photographs. The resource pack contains photographs of the different stages of the process, together with examples of children's artwork and batiks from around the world produced using this process. There are also numerous design ideas, suggestions for themes and further work ideas. With the exception of consumable materials and equipment the pack includes everything necessary to make beautiful batiks, and provides guidance for further work.
