We have developed a Batik method which is suitable for younger children.  Many innovative methods suitable for this age group.

Experience this interesting craft using wax  - suitable for older children only.  Many innovative methods suitable for the classroom.

 

Felt-making

 

 

Historical theme days

 

Learn this historic method of making felt from washed fleece.  Exciting possibilities for design & colour work, making clothes or 3-D pieces.

Explore history through unusual and exciting Art and Textile projects.  Romans, Vikings and Egyptians etc.

 

Kites

 

 

Masks

 

Create amazing kites with dyes and fabrics, and then fly them!

Fantastic display and history talk, accompanied by some impressive mask making.  Tailor-made for each year group.

 

Natural dyes

 

 

Printing on fabric

 

Using safe methods, collect plants and make dyes for various projects; tie-dying, fabric painting, dyeing natural yarns. Fascinating links.

Learn a variety of processes interpreted in unusual and exciting ways e.g. mathematical shapes and forms.

 

Puppets

 

 

Spinning

 

Visually exciting and linked to literacy, create puppets that can be used for Drama.

Make and use drop spindles to spin wonderful yarns.  Excellent follow-up to farm visits and work on materials and processes.

 

The T-shirt as an Art form

 

 

Tie-dyed paper and fabric

 

Exciting use of the T-shirt with dyes and unusual printing techniques. Wearable afterwards!

Discover this ancient craft and its beautiful results. A good outside activity.

 

Weaving
