This is a very exciting project for Key Stages 1 and 2, which introduces kites as
a decorative surface combining the processes of screen-printing and block-printing.
The screen-printing process is a lot easier than many people think and this Project
Teaching Pack gives step-by-step instructions and a comprehensive materials list
to enable you to successfully undertake this process.
This pack describes the process of screen-printing and gives you numerous template
ideas and easy to follow instructions. It contains detailed photographs of the different
stages of the process, and many examples of children's artwork. After printing and
construction the kites will fly; detailed drawings and notes on construction of the
kites are included. The pack also contains great photographs of kites made by children,
and some kites are also shown in the photo gallery. With the exception of consumable
materials and equipment the pack includes everything necessary to try screen-printing
and to make a kite which will fly.
Many teachers tell us that they have screen-printing equipment in their schools that
has been lying around unused for years as no-one knows how to use it! This Resource
Pack is therefore the beginners guide you have all been waiting for!
The pages of each Project Teaching Pack are in individual plastic sleeves to protect
them against spills and damage in the classroom and the packs are in a sturdy loose-leaf
folder so that materials can be removed for display. Each Project Teaching Pack
contains a detailed materials and equipment list. Packs are also now available in
pdf form, offering a considerable saving on printed packs.
This project is suitable for Key Stage 2 and beyond. Using a medieval theme the pack
describes screen-printing in detail to produce exciting artwork.
